Renault announces its entry into the online NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) market. An NFT is a digital certificate of ownership that represents a single item that cannot be duplicated, substituted, or subdivided. It is recorded on a blockchain and used as a certificate of authenticity and ownership. This can be in the form of image, video, sound, etc.
genR5 is the name of the first NFT Renault collection inspired by the Renault 5 and put up for sale on December 15. This first project pays homage to the creation of this model, a 70’s icon that embraces generative art and reveals its creativity through unique 1972 NFTs. This number pays homage to 1972, the year the Renault 5 was launched.
Each NFT, among the 1972 offered for sale, represents a Renault 5 in the form of a 9-second animated video with an exclusive cover, light, dynamic and sound animation.
This genR5 collection is inspired by 4 iconic R5 models:

Each NFT is randomly assigned, discovered after purchase, and provides access to specific utilities. Each genR5 NFT owner becomes a patron of the Give Me 5 solidarity project as 50% of the sale price of the NFT will fund the initiatives. Give Me 5 is Renault’s social responsibility program that specifically supports the restoration of tennis courts to enable young people in priority neighborhoods to play tennis.
Thanks to this initiative, this year Renault has restored 3 tennis courts in Marseille, Lyon and Grigny.
